Bit of fun

Snow Days

With the snow fall in the country being lovely to look at and enjoy with sleighing down big hills ,glowing cheeks and lovely time for most

I was out with my dog in our local wood taking it easy as we bimbled through as we do .looking around we seen a lot of tracks was quite surprising to look at >deer, dogs, humans ,fox, numerous birds a few squirrels and rabbits or hares .Following a set of tracks that were about 2 hours or so old .The set we were following were of human in nature who had a dog with them and were parallel  to some deer tracks I’m not sure who was following who but the way it looked on the ground was us following the human following the deer

Plodding along the forest keeping an eye on the tracks we came across fallen tree blocking the route the trail we had been following went around the blockage as you would expect .Looking at the fallen tree it wouldn’t of taken someone 20 min to clear it of the path

Breaking the tree down i moved the dead branches first then the twigs an such and got to the main branches most were rotting an easy to break off with a bit of help from AK’s lead to give me the leverage needed for them to naturally break ,with a few of the still living ones i had to use my knife to get them broke down and remove them to the side 20 min later the route was open access for all who use the path

As we went around a few twist and turns I noticed the deer had pulled off and had went a direction I had never been before in the woods ,feeling adventurous I pulled AK off on to the trail and showed him it so he could get a sent from it .When he gets onto a trail the only thing to do will be to hold on tight to the lead and look out for low branches

we ended up going down a nice gully and by the looks of things the only human to walk that way for some time I ended up getting dragged /scrambling up the steep side of the gully wall to see a doe looking more surprised than me or the dog   .Damn them things can run fast and trying to hold on to a very happy an pleased for himself boxer

i settled him down to a fashion and we had the interesting problem of finding our bearing and getting to the main path so we could have a nice brew and a warm up .We found our path again and took a slow walk back avoiding slipping on some of the ice that had built up passing a few sheep on the way home

speak /chat later

My first home made knife

I was looking for a 3 inch knife and after looking through countless websites most of them came up under the category of shite ,over priced ,or way off target for my needs

I wanted a good utility knive that could cope with rough jobs or defence work if i was jumped when out with my dog ,the local area can get bad but try telling that to a happy go lucky boxer with boundless energy

the challenge was set to me by a friend on facebook he said “A real man would make his own knife ” and by rights he was right . I’ve use spring leaf steel to make the knife and have spent many hours cutting it out with grinders ,files and sand paper to get the shape

i started by marking out on some card board the shape then glued it on to my leaf spring ,was simple enough to do Image

the next step i had to do was to start and shape it to the template i drew out  ,with a small 4 inch diameter grinder i set too an got it done

not much to say about the grinding it was easy enough to do just took a few hours Image

the design was based on the L85 bayonet with the cut of the steel >This makes for a great cutting surface and makes it a nice tool to use for them little jobs that pop up throughout the day  that we all come across, after many hours of filing and sanding I managed to get it to a nice  Image

clean sheen to it so the the grips .Ive picked up and am using horse stable mat as this suits the form and function of the blade

all going well it shall be finished in a few weeks and then the wonderful job of finding it a sheath What I’ve found so far is its the perfect size as it it to slip in my wallet with an insert to stop it from braking though the lining of the wallet

When I’ve finally done with it and it is finished I’ll post up the photo for all to see

Training ,why would ya bother eh?

To mant times ive came across people who have gone on the internet and got stuff that they’ve no idea how to use .Ive seen idiots ordering cool looking medical supplies an not know how it works .This is not limited to homes at a place i use to work they had a defib machine i craiced a joke about it at the time but was stunned with the reply “Oh the first aider who is trained on that is off for 2 weeks ”
The place has never heard the phrase one is none and two is one this motto should be engraved on all of us imagine the problems it could solve if it was used every day
ran out of sugar got get another one from the store and write it down on the shopping list
Training for problems reduces the panic stage playing what if only gets you so far .Go test the gear or training in a controlled environment

i’ll write more on this later

My custom Kilt

My custom Kilt

I had this made just for me to fight and work in

this is my……..

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.
I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than the enemy who is trying to kill me.
I must shoot him before he shoots me
. I will.
My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count.
We will hit.

My rifle is human, even as I am human, because it is my life.
Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories,
JIits sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other.

Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviours of my life.

So be it

So where do you carry your knives ?

Where to carry your knife/knives ?
with the way the UK law is at the moment yer all FUCKED!!!!! that’s the legal side covered ,Now the rest of the item

So just about every day i carry a few knives on me .My EDC i carry a Gerber multi-tool on my belt with my torch, lighter and black pen .When i walk the dog his Lead has a karabiner with a saw blade and a knife blade hid in the metal of the clip and my Morakniv that has become my general work knife as

The Gerber is a great bit of kit for general usage (Pliers, file, scissors flat edge and Phillips head screwdrivers the normal thing found one one ) we all know the type well enough not to bore the crap out of you all

The dog Karabiner is because i walk and start to work AK on a 15 foot lead and we will be moving up to a 30 ft search lead when he starts to get the Human search training in a bit more detail (hard time trying to find victims ) its there for cutting the dog free if i ever have to the blades are easy to get to as the way his lead is slung around my neck and arm to keep in contact with him at all times

Now the general work knife, the carry placement of this is on my belt i am right handed for most times i will carry it on my left hand side where i can get to it with my weak side or my strong side job depending in a SHTF moment i can get to it easy with both hands E.G hanging from a rock i’d use my strong hand to hold on and reach my knife for whatever problem with my left .Some times i’ll place it in my back pocket for comfort if sitting down on long trips or i dont need it but want to carry it as a habit thing
the ONLY time i carry my general work knife on my right is if im doing something that would put myself, my daughter,my wife or more importantly my dog at risk from others with a very low IQ or are tired of living this could be walking through a rough area or going somewhere unfriendly .The reason i use my right is im use to drawing a pistol and i can grab my knife in the same way with the blade pointing downward and edge out in a classic fighting stance last thing most people will see will be a quick draw and a slash in a krav manor (counter /counterstrike in the most natural manor for your body )
i also have on my B.O.B my first ever knife i got when i was 13 or 14 in a southern seaside town called Bundoran it is nothing much but i’ve taken it to every posting ,hell hole and shit box ive ever been to when im taking my nephew out in the field I let him use it till i get a youth training knife for him (im slow to get things for him as its an expense thing, his father is a retard and wont take an interest in his development into a young man )

talking briefly to friend about this they like to keep the belt area clear for agility and have a knife in their bergan
any and all thoughts are welcome tell me what you carry or where you carry it
